Stephen Jones has taken an extended summer break but has now
concluded his annual task based on a formula known to no man. Actually, it’s a
formula tried and true that North Harbour has used for years to select its top
12 players based on points accrued through performance (ie you get points for
runs, catches, run outs, wickets, centuries, 5 wickets etc).
The
winner of the Massey Cup for the top performing North
Harbour U18 player of the ACA District Tournament is:
With 105 tournament runs and 15 wickets Clayton has taken
out this year’s cup. Congratulations Clayton!
It may be small reward for
Clayton having missed out on travelling with the Auckland Under 19s to
tournament by fracturing his hip in a club game for Takapuna the day before he
was due to travel.
Your cup will be engraved and can be collected from Stephen
Jones in due course.

Well
done to everyone who took part and best of luck for the rest of the cricket
season.
Subsequent
to trials for Auckland, and team namings, the Auckland Under 17 side became
National Champs in Wellington and included the following players who played for
Harbour in the Under 18 district tournament:
William O'Donnell
Nathan Banks
Cole Briggs
Ross ter Braak

Thanks
to for the gifts given to me at the end of the tournament, much appreciated and
unexpected.
See
you around the traps. Any volunteers for convenor next year? Please let me know
and I will let Sue Woods know and flick you the files. We’re not sure of the
format of the tournament next year but if your offspring will be Under 18 again
next year feel free to give an indication of interest.
