Cambridge and Hamilton Sunday November 24

Sunday morning update: All good to go. 26 degrees expected in Hamilton and Cambridge. Sunny skies. Sunblock! Water! Good luck everyone.

Hi all, here are the teams for this Sunday November 24. I will send each team separate emails on venues etc and will update this blog shortly with info for both games. This will be duplicated via email and on the Facebook page.

But you should plan to be at your venue at 9.45am for a 10.30am start. 50 overs.(Cambridge will have a longer travelling time than Hamilton.)

Each team must provide a scorer. This can either be on an ipad (if anyone has one) via Cric HQ (I can load it up for you beforehand between now and Saturday if you aren’t sure how) or in a traditional scorebook. If there are no parents available to do this, then I will assign the task to one of the boys. There are 12 in each team so there will always be one free for 5 overs. Volunteers please.
We also need people available to umpire, taking turns to make it easier. Can each team please advise who in their side has umpired and who is going to the game.  Obviously you shouldn’t umpire if your son is batting. And if they are bowling you should swap with square leg. Volunteers please.

Note: These teams are not A teams or development teams or anything. Make no assumptions. Read nothing into them. They are just balanced teams taking into account the need for coaches to see more of players they haven’t seen, mixing fast and spin bowlers etc The batting order is roughly accurate but MAY CHANGE on the day (particularly below 6) to ensure people are given ample opportunity where possible.

Please take whatever chance you are given to stake your claim for a spot. There is only one more game to show your wares, and that’s the intersquad matches on December 1.

I am not planning to attend these games but you will have all you need to know sent to you by Friday. As for the weather, current forecast is for showers. Let’s hope it’s wrong.
We need to co-ordinate transport for some players and the coaches. Anyone who can give anyone else a lift please let me know.
Good luck to captains Ullrich Boshoff and Jackson Tredray.

Cambridge/Hamilton

Due to late replies we have been unable to finalise teams for Cambridge and Hamilton this morning as planned. They will now be posted tomorrow morning, but if you have said you will go, you will most likely be in a team as at this stage we have almost perfect numbers for two teams.
ie plan to travel this Sunday - destination to be confirmed!

Devonport match November 10 - thanks

Thanks to all the players who gave up their study time, and the parents who watched, and the parents who umpired for us today at Devonport.
Plenty was observed, hopefully some lessons learned (basic long barriers anyone?) and many players stepped up.
Thanks to Clayton for stepping in for Jeremy who was sick - we woke Clay up to play and he pulled out 91 for us!
Congratulations to Stefan who scored a great century, and to Brett Bakkerus who had fun up the order. Not so much fun (for the owner) will be the repair bill for the window of the house he smashed!
Can we have our ball back please?
Scorecard his attached. There is one mistake and once you upload on CricHQ you can't change it. It's that Clayton's wicket to take Isaac Snell was a stumping to Zac White, not a bowled. Sorry about that Zac - my ipad - and brain - ran out of juice today.
Score sheet here: https://www.crichq.com/matches/74408#inning-2
Thanks also to Fletch and Fraser of course, and special thanks to Carl Kirstein who stepped up from Under 16s to keep for us for the day, and also diligently did the scoreboard. Cheers Carl.
Performances of note:
C Floyd 91
S Baumgartner 100*
B Bakkerus 60*
T Hewitt 62
If you were in the Burgundy team and didn't get to bat today, sorry about that. Hopefully you are getting a go at school or club and we can fit you in for a bit in one of the remaining games for Harbour.

Good luck with your games this week.

Intersquad match at Devonport Sunday November 10

Hi all, below are the teams selected by Neil Fletcher* from those boys who are available for this weekend.
(* Friday night amendments, please note)

This is a trial game on two levels. For people who have played Harbour previously it will assist in assessing which level they will play this year. For people who haven’t played Harbour, it will assist in assessing if they will do this year. For this reason we may, for example, give an untried player a few more overs than you might expect in order to ascertain their strengths. Please be understanding about this.

The game is at Devonport Domain – at this stage it is on the Number 1 wicket but that may change if the weather doesn’t play ball.

TIME: Be there at 9.45AM for a 10.30am start
HOW MANY OVERS:  50
WHAT DO I WEAR: North Harbour whites if you have them (but turn up in warm-up gear); Your regular playing whites if you don’t (and your own warm up gear).
GRASS OR ARTIFICIAL: Grass so bring your sprigs, but also be prepared to change them if we get moved onto artificial (unlikely but be prepared).
FORECAST: Is great, but if the weather is truly appalling I will send a mass text and email at 8.30am.
FOOD: Bring your own lunch, drinks.
ATTITUDE: Follow the North Harbour Code of Conduct.

MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS: Thanks to those who sent their numbers. Can everyone who hasn’t please send them through either to my phone or by email.

EMAILS: Please don’t email the entire coaching staff if you are emailing me back. My job is to keep them from being bombarded so please just email me.

The teams:

Jeremy Houghton

Jack Dromgool
x Ullrich Boshoff  c
x Luke Steyn

Zac White   wk

Sam Logan

Brett Bakkerus

Connor Bessell
x Josh Young

Jordon S Burnett

x Nic Montgomery c

FACEBOOK: Please ask to join the page here if you haven’t already

Good luck with your games on the weekend. Remember to email me any achievements.

Full Details for Whangarei Games plus more

Whangarei game North Harbour Unders pre-tournament trial matches

THIS SUNDAY NOVEMBER 3 10.30am

TIME: Be there at 9.45AM for a 10.30am start
HOW MANY OVERS: 50
WHERE: Kensington Park
WHAT DO I WEAR: North Harbour whites if you have them (but turn up in warm-up gear); Your regular playing whites if you don’t (and your own warm up gear).
GRASS OR ARTIFICIAL: Grass so bring your sprigs, but also be prepared to change them if we get moved onto artificial (unlikely but be prepared).
THE DRIVE: Apparently takes two hours. You decide.
IF IT RAINS: If the weather is truly appalling I will send a mass text at 7.30am to advise if we make the trip. Usually with this event each year, we just drive through the rain and hope for the best though!
THE FORECAST: Showers on Sunday, partly fine
FOOD: Bring your own lunch, drinks.
CAR POOLING: Save petrol – travel with a friend!

The two teams to play this game are below. There are a couple of changes from the last email I sent. If you are not on this list it means either you were not available or you will be playing on November 10 (details of that game to follow later in the week). Some of the players below may also play on the 10th.

Thank you to Mark Steyn who is going to coach the Black team (the one that doesn’t have his son in it) because of other coaches’ unavailability. Unfortunately Premier Cricket is now being played on November 3 because of an earlier rained off day, meaning Cole and Gareth could not be there, and both Tazz and Fraser have academic obligations that weekend.

Scorers: Do we have any? We would prefer our games to be scored on CricHQ please so anyone who has done this and has an ipad they’d like to bring to score with please let me know.

MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS: Can everyone (the whole group) please send me their mobile phone numbers. I have about half the parents, and I have virtually none of the players’ numbers. Text or email me them.
For those not going to Whangarei, just sometime in the next week.
For those going to Whangarei: Please send asap. Thanks.

CAMERAS: Feel free to take photos for the Facebook page.

2013 North Harbour Under 18s

Posted by:Denise Montgomery. North Harbour Under 18 convenor.027 224 0181
Date: October 13

The North Harbour Under 18 pre-tournament programme will begin with a game in Whangarei on Sunday November 3. (There will be further games on November 10, November 24 and December 1).

There's also going to be the North Harbour Under 18 Facebook group we had last year, which we will revive this season (please ask to join the group). This is also good for photos and messages during the tournament.
Between this blog, FB, emails and texts we should have communication covered!

As mentioned in the emails to the group, the coaches are Neil Fletcher and Gareth Jacobs for the A sides; Tauseef Satti, Fraser Bowden and Coel Mahoney for the Development sides.

All Under 18 games - development and A - are at Waikaraka Park. Dates are Dec 15, 16, 17 (one dayers); Dec 19-20, Dec 22-23 (two dayers).

Those selected to play in the four teams (48 players) will be named on Monday December 2 and teams will be named at capping on Tuesday December 3.

The teams are fairly evenly split for this game which will also serve as a trial for a number of players.
