Awesome, almost and oh well x 2

AWESOME
An awesome result for the North Harbour Black A side in their two-dayer against Manukau. Batting first Manukau put on 313/5 and then rather foolishly declared on a track that was drying out nicely for the batsmen.
Best of the North Harbour bowlers for that innings was Nathan Banks with 16 overs, 3/27.
There were a couple of chances put down for talented opposition batsman Glenn Phillips' wicket, one of which was made amends for in our batting reply.
Starting day two at 67/0 opener Ethan Lovich picked up where he had left off yesterday, well supported by Jeremy Houghton at the other end. He hit 104 from 124 balls to form the backbone of the batting innings and prove the point that one big score by a batsman can change the game.  Ethan's dad now owes him $100 I believe!
Jeremy's 41 was well compiled and he was followed by Patrick Thomson (43) and Ullrich Boshoff (56) playing a very different style of innings to ensure victory (from 107 balls). There were a few hiccups in the lower order but because the top order had done their job victory was achieved 317/7.

ALMOST
The other A side, Burgundy, were all out for 169 chasing EDCA's 239 leaving EDCA 70 ahead. EDCA batted again and sportingly declared at 126/5 meaning Burgundy needed 197 off 41 overs. Not impossible and Jackson Tredray (who scored 63 in the first innings) opening the batting with Dan Robinson and got us off to a flyer at 55/0 after 11. But Jackson fell at 50 and no one else went on - while Nic Montgomery and Dylan Budler were there it was still looking possible but once they had gone it was always going to be uphill to get the outright.
In the end we fell 30 runs short, but there was a lot of improvement in the batting in this second innings, in approach.
BB Innings one
N Montgomery 17.4 overs 4/56
B Wojt 8 overs, 3/16
Second Innings
C Floyd 12 overs, 4/29

OH WELL X 2
Black Development struggled against some very ordinary umpiring combined with not a lot of luck.
Both Black and Burgundy lost after following on. Auckland Cricket hasn't entered the results and figures into the database yet so I can't update you with those until I get them as the teams had gone by the time the Burgundy A game had finished. (I will add them in here as soon as they are done)

On Sunday and Monday we are back to a 10am start, be there 9am or whatever your coach has told you. Traffic won't be so bad cos school is out on Monday and Sunday should be good hopefully. Bring your supporters!
